Business School Futurist appointed to Presidential Commission on Fourth Industrial Revolution

Professor Chris Adendorff of the Nelson Mandela University Business School, who specialises in Future Studies has been appointed by President Ramaphosa to the Presidential Commission on the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

The mandate of the Commission is to advise the government on policies, develop a framework for implementation of a multi-sectoral strategy; coordinate, monitor and evaluate multi-sectoral initiatives that will position South Africa as a globally competitive player in 4IR.

The commission comprises representatives from key sectors such as banking, agriculture, science and technology, academia, the private sector and labour organisations.

Prof Adendorff has also been invited to attend a media launch of the 4IRSA Partnership and South Africa’s first Digital Economy Summit in April 2019 in Johannesburg. The launch will include a presentation and handover of the 4IRSA sector workshops’ summary report; and panel discussion on “4IR challenges and opportunities for South Africa.”
